Well here we are on another Monday.
So here was my Padme to-do list last week, with updates:
1. Hem skirt – done!
2. Finish pleated front panel/attach – half done. I got it re-gathered and ready to go but wanted to wait til my beads arrived to make sure the two things together are sized correctly.
3. Do tacks on top – no, i am too lazy
4. Research stamp stuff for the cape – a little? Chase printed different sizes for me so I could test out what sizing is correct and I did cut those out and pin them onto the cape to see. I think I’ve decided but want to look once more.
5. Wait on beads – they arrived! more on this below
6. Hem cape – i started unpicking it but that’s all.
So my beads arrived, but I feel like they are too small. I need to hold them up to the gathered piece and see. But I think I need to go up a size – maybe 2 sizes. I’ll take pics of that tonight to show next week.
So not a ton done on Padme but a little.
So since I’m kinda stuck waiting, I finally moved on to T’Lyn:
Instead of modifying my Seven of Nine jacket pieces, instead i’m modifying Sionnach Studios’ Space Trek jacket. It’s a jacket for the Prodigy look, so it needed a few tweaks, but overall I think this was much easier to use than what I mashed up together for Seven last year.
I cut it out of some scrap spandex to test the fit and make the changes to the shape of the bottom. Moved my changes over to the pattern pieces.
Yoke and lower section
Where I stopped Sunday before going to run errands – yoke pinned on.
And as of last night, yoke basted on and sleeves started. The sleeves ended up a bit too big and needed some taking up first, so I stopped there for the night.
So tonight I’ll do that and then hopefully get the yoke machine sewn on and remove my basting stitches. The rest of this week I’ll focus on getting the collar attached and the blue strip up the front panel. Once that’s all done the outer shell will be finished and I just need to assemble and sew in the lining, and put some closures on it!
I do think once I get the jacket more assembled I’ll need to take up the body section a bit. Looking at it in the mirror yesterday I think in particular the back seams need to come in at the waist.
I did also get the pants made, so finally feel like I accomplished a good bit in the last week.
I’ve also been making friendship bracelets to pass out at dragoncon since I don’t think we’re doing ribbons this year:
I don’t know how I’m going to “display” them to people since I don’t want to wear a ton while I’m in costume. Thinking about maybe putting them on a carabiner and just attaching them to my bag, but doesn’t really make them easy to read. I’ve made all kinds. I think I will probably also bring some little bags to put some in to set around for swag and seek, because as it’s going at the moment, I’m going to have a LOT of bracelets LOL Probably too many to trade/give away. That pic above was only what I made in one sitting. (I think I have about 70 so far? And more beads arriving today. I’ll just keep going til I get bored I guess.)
Walker was over Friday! We played in the hose a little bit LOL
Muppet
Saturday I rode up to Jackson with my parents to visit Daddy Bob for Father’s Day.
It was an all day adventure so Chase stayed at my parents’ house with Skye and Walker.
Sunday was sewing, some errands, and then we went to see dad play for Father’s Day.
So this week’s to-do list is:
1. test out the beads for Padme and (probably) find and order something bigger
2. Decide on sizing for stamp
3. finish taking out the hem on the cape
4. Get the T’Lyn sleeves taken up and reattached
5. Get the yoke sewn on
6. Get the collar sewn on
7. making blue bias tape for front, attach
8. Assemble lining/attach
9. Add closures
I can’t remember if I said last week, but I did get a wig and some ear options for T’Lyn. Wig will work fine with a few trims. Neither pair of ears I got seem exactly right? Will try them on again with the wig once I have it trimmed and a headband made.
Would be great if I could finish up the majority of sewing on T’Lyn this week and move on to Shin next week. Besides Padme, T’Lyn and Shin (and making Baylan for Chase) there are 3 more costumes in the “maybe” list depending on if I have time or not. 2 have fairly easy to find fabrics and both pretty easy to assemble, but one would require me also making something matching for Chase. I will just have to see how the rest of the month and early July goes.
